What I’ve been up to.

Short notes about projects, studies, trips, life. Reverse-chronological.

  1. Shipping a tiny reading tracker

Cleaned up the bookshelf I run on this site and open-sourced it. Markdown front-matter, no database, deploys on a static host. The whole thing is <500 lines and finally does what I want.

Source on GitHub. If you keep a reading log and a half-decent text editor, that’s all you need.

  2. Three days in Samarkand

Tiled domes the color of pool water. Streets that funnel you toward the Registan whether you mean to go there or not. Came back with a notebook full of half-formed thoughts about beauty and decay, and a quiet conviction that I’d been thinking about cities wrong.

    A longer piece is brewing.

  3. Learning linear algebra, properly this time

Working through 3Blue1Brown alongside the Strang lectures. Suddenly eigenvectors feel less like trivia and more like a tool — a way of asking “what does this transformation actually do, if you strip away the basis?”

Two weeks in. The shape of things is starting to show.
